Since November is Native American heritage month, I thought I would take the opportunity to celebrate a great people group in this country. Join me won’t you?!
The Comanche Tribe is one of over 1000 tribes in the USA and whose historic territory consisted of present-day northwestern Texas and adjacent areas in eastern New Mexico, southeastern Colorado, southwestern Kansas, western Oklahoma, and northern Chihuahua. It is important to note that the government federally recognizes the Comanche people as the Comanche Nation, which is headquartered in Lawton, Oklahoma. This is because many tribes have gone unnoted in that way!!
Today’s guest is Deb Davenport, VP of Staffing Operations who is launching an incredible organization called “Numunu Staffing” which empowers tribal and non-tribal job seekers to achieve better results. Numunu is pronounced “Nuh-muh-nuh” and means “the people”. As I learn more about what this company is doing, it is clear that they have the people at the center of it all.
Since we both have a passion for inclusion and to serve the marginalized in our communities, I thought it would not only be great to hear from her but I would also have the opportunity to showcase an organization that might benefit my listeners or friends of my listeners!!
You might enjoy reading another blog post I wrote awhile back titled Setting the Table to help you engage in inclusion work in your story. Let’s connect, I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter!!
