In today’s world the work of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion can be quite daunting. There are many approaches and models that help us to develop our organizations and teams. The main approach that has been the most successful is that of cultivating an “Inclusive Leadership” mindset. In simple terms, it means making room AS A LEADER for different opinions, perspectives, and levels of engagement. Inclusive leadership needs to become a lifestyle and not just a good idea.
I recently came across an article in the Harvard Business Review that highlights why Inclusive Leadership works and is necessary.
As the Director of Entrepreneurial Services of DE&I lead at Ann Arbor SPARK, in the metro Detroit area, Anne has years of developing companies, coaching organizations on leadership, culture building and resiliency running highly engaged teams, and my personal favourite of mentoring individuals to reach their potential.
In my interview with Anindita (Anne) Partington, she not only exposed a few new terms around the work of DE&I such as Inclusive Entrepreneurship, Inclusive Ecosystem but also shared her best practices and challenges in the work.
Anne and I met on LinkedIn and hit it off in our first conversation with great energy and passion for culture, leadership development and living into our authentic selves. As two women of Indian origin with completely different upbringings, we have had very diverse work experiences, our families are uniquely diverse, and we come together to think about how to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in our communities and work places.
We have enjoyed great unity as we grow forward and are excited to share on future episodes on my podcast.
